After far too long of a wait, we finally saw Jeff Bridges in (link to trailer) "Crazy Heart".
He should own the Oscar, come Sunday night, in my opinion.
The movie itself is a bit slow, a tad lengthy, and 80% predictable. You must like JB to enjoy it, as he's on screen for the entire time, and not appearing quite as attractive as he does with his sans-scruff look. His performance is 1,000% brilliant. His character, Bad Blake, is kind, lonely, funny, self-destructive and tragic, in the flaws that have cost him dearly. And he can sing and play... really... Bad is so good. Jeff Bridges is quite an accomplished musician. The guitar-driven score is... well, it's music to my ears, even though country is not my favorite genre. I had the urge to dance and could not stop tapping and moving. It's like a mini-concert.
The supporting cast is terrific; and Colin Farrell does his own singing, as well. Stay through the credits to let the music play out, as you discover a few interesting tidbits.
