In 1959, for my thirteenth birthday, my parents gave me a cool-for-the-cool "portable" radio. Hey, I was a teen and officially in need of listening all day. The thing was a clunker, as was the style back in the day; it very much resembled the one pictured, photo credits due somewhere. (I'm having Mom look for a pic of me and friend, soon to replace the pilfered one). I thought of the old radio while searching for a particular song on YouTube. Results brought me to a collection of snippets from many of the tunes that would have been playing on my companion, back then. WOW! (video since removed by YouTube)
