We spent a whopping $1,600.00 to heat our home for a one-month period of this brutally cold winter. Just imagine the remaining cost. Sure, our thermostats were lowered; but what difference does a setting of 65 make, when outside it is just 2 degrees? The heat cranked constantly during week after week of single-digit frigid weather. Combine this with the $3.99 per gallon for fuel oil that a customer of Joe's paid, just yesterday. Then, stir into the mix the $3.79 price per at the gas pumps, today. Gas has risen daily since the mere mention of L.I.B.Y.A. It's time to do something... anything... to fight our own however-miniscule battle against this hold on us.
For starters, we think twice before driving too far, these days. Mandatory is one thing... but joyriding is on hold, for now. It's fun and challenging to rediscover the beauteous activities, in our own backyard. More importantly, it's a matter of principle. And online shopping has been my choice for retail therapy for quite a long while, now.
In addition, we've purchased a couple of (link) EdenPURE infrared heaters. Our home is seeming rather large, these days, when considering the cost of maintenance. It's divided into five heat zones, and we've turned two of the most significant ones off, with the mere addition of quiet, clean, small, fairly inconspicuous EP's.
It's clearly a challenge to correct often-wasteful ways; but one has to begin somewhere.
