This is not exactly a recommendation. However, if you love Jeff Bridges and enjoy him no matter the depth of script, you'll like the HBO film. I love J.B. Not a fan? Perhaps you should skip this one.

And, if you love dogs and want to understand more clearly the nature and nurture underlying their resulting personalities, you'll like the film.

Also, if you've just spent beach time with yet another Jeff during which you discussed the characteristics bred into working or other canines, you'll like the film.

One more - if you have an hour and a half of downtime such as mine during the wee hours of this morning, you're a "go". Don't expect Oscar nominations here. Its message reminds us that all relationships can use patience, kindness and quality time, all awash in persistent love... and that always within our reach is the inspirer.

Just for the record, I'm reminded of the one round of twelve training sessions Ike and I completed. First lesson? "This is more for the human than the pooch." Ponder that!
