Nature Vs. Nurture In A Literal Sense

Sometime in late March, I planted tiny Impatiens and Coleus seeds, beginning the long wait for them to germinate and grow. The still-small plants live outdoors now, awaiting "weight gain" and transplantation to their summer homes. I'm intrigued to discover that Coleus leaves only the size of my pinkie nail display their patterns. Please left double-click photo to see for yourself!
Meanwhile, for the past two weeks, Mother Nature has rained maple seeds upon us...little "helicopters" that fly from the sky. In the woods, they seem to germinate overnight. Joe noticed the carpets of baby trees in all the wild areas surrounding our home.  Need a tree, or ten, or a hundred?
