Fifty years into their careers, Paul and Ringo still exude pure joy and obvious love for what they do best. The Grammy tribute to our treasured Beatles made for heart-stopping TV, last night. With utmost respect for John and George, our surviving musicians showed the world just what rock 'n' roll can do for the soul. Awesome choices from their extensive catalogue kept us glued for two hours. I could have easily stayed for two more. Fabulous Beatles' covers were performed by many, as well. Annie Lennox was incredible.. Alicia Keys and John Legend astounding... Keith Urban adorable. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say…
Paul and Ringo stole the show. They are clearly, along with John and George, Godsent gifts to music lovers everywhere.
Maybe I'm Amazed
Here's an excerpt from the (link) NY TIMES review:
"Fifty years after conquering the United States, Mr. McCartney and Mr. Starr didn't come across as self-congratulatory, or weary, or simply going through show business motions, Somehow, they've held onto what they brought in 1964. They were still having fun."
