Ah, there's nothing like discovering fabulous new beaches and we've already put two new ones on our A-list. Huntington State Park Beach is comparable to our beloved Cape Cod, its shoreline protected to the point of being pristine in nature as it offers endless sand 'n' sea opportunities. Mambo can run free, as we imagine ourselves first settlers on Carolina sand. Really!
Its a wildlife sanctuary, as well, and visitors are asked to keep pets from walking in just one direction of endless bird and turtle nesting areas. A fair deal, with thoughts of preserving beautiful Nature for generations to come.
For something a tad more civilized, Surfside fills the bill. Dolphins and pelicans took sea and air stages to afford us up-front entertainment. What IS it about the beach that makes us feel so liberated. Bare feet in the sand, hair a mess in a visor, clothes wrinkly and layered to allow for quick temp changes… and a beach pooch who seems to be in agreement with us.
