We landed in a convenient hotel, here in Murrells Inlet. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we thought it just a layover. But we like it here. Sure, it's cooler than our original Floridian destination. But that's okay. You see, we've given up sun-bathing. Doesn't sound like a big deal, right? But you can't imagine how liberating that fact is!! It can be cooler. That's okay. It can be cloudy. That's acceptable. The beach, after all, is THE BEACH. It soothes the soul, no matter the season. So as long as we've escaped frigid temps and snow, we're okay. Besides, if it rains as it did today, we have "The Maze". What exactly is this maze we refer to? Well, I'll tell ya…
For the first few days here, we kept accessing the highway to reach various destinations. Then, we realized that all (back)roads lead to Rome. Well, not exactly Rome. But you know what I mean. We can work our way to the Outback, the multiplex Entertainment Center, a mall, a Cracker Barrel - a little inside joke here - a supermarket, a dollar store, and so on and so forth. You get the gist. Now this mightn't sound like a big deal, unless your from good ole Monti. Our nearest movie theater is fifty miles round trip.
So, when rain hit last night and lasted into today, we hit The Maze to access the theater. First, we saw "American Hustle" with its amazing cast and a stellar performance by Christian Bale. A little long in the tooth, so to speak. But once it got going, it told a good story and the supporting cast was astoundingly good, as well. Oscar fodder.
Today, we saw Leo's "The Wolf On Wall Street". Va, va, va-voom. It's clearly beyond racy. Be warned. But what a performance from Mr. DiCaprio. We're seein' Oscar all over this one, too. No spoilers here. I'm still in playback mode and can't seem to put a few descriptive sentences together for y'all. But please go see for yourself.
