We like cranberry/multi-grain bread from Benjamin's Bakery, here in Surfside Beach. Actually, we've gotten into the habit of picking up a few loaves to bring home, before we leave. It's that good. The bakery is a nice spot to grab a cuppa and relax… something we've gotten very good at. :-)
The mood struck us to have homemade French toast for breakfast. Didn't kill myself. Just drenched slices in beaten egg with fat-free half 'n' half and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Placed on a Pam-sprayed baking sheet and surrounded with sliced bananas and apples, also sprayed and sprinkled. Into a hot (400-degree) oven. Since our vacation oven is not convection, I did turn toast once. Served with leftover syrup from a travelin' Cracker Barrel stop (for Joe) and Cool Whip (for moi). YUM!
